Most people don’t think about maintaining their dishwasher, they presume the cycles do this automatically. However, over time dirt is built up and food residue can cause a bad odour so it will need to be cleaned out. Built up can lead to poor running of your dishwasher, maintaining this appliance helps to keep it running smoothly and more efficiently.

Here are a few tips on maintain your dishwasher

Daily; Scrape left over food from pots and pans into a bin or compost before putting into the dishwasher. Use a good detergent as it will do a better job at cleaning your pots.

Weekly; Clean the seals with a damp cloth this it to get rid of the build up of grime, as the seal deteriorates faster. Dishwashers like frequent use, leaving them sitting too long can gives fats and other deposits time to dry or block the drain.

Monthly; The rinse aid needs to be regularly topped up, although many dishwasher tablets do include rinse aid. Clean the exterior from spillages. Unclog and clean the drain.

Annually; Run an empty cycle on the hottest setting, try adding some white vinegar to improve maintenance. Place 1-2 cups into a dishwasher safe bowl onto the bottom racks. This will help to flush out grime, limescale and residue.
